We all know Rene as a Certified Casting Instructor, truly a master. Little did we know he had such skill landing fish on light tackle! A 5 wt rod was all Rene needed to land this absolute bruiser. The story? Well, you really need to talk to Rene when you see him. It started with fishing for panfish using little popper flies. Evidently this big guy was pretty hungry. Over a half hour later, Rene was posing with the leviathan on the shore.
Our understanding is he had to ice his arms that evening and couldn’t lift his arms over his head for a week….
Don’t let anyone tell you it is impossible to land big fish on light rods!
